GRAPHIC DESIGN

The graphics industry is very specialized and requires very specific high-end software and hardware to ensure a quality finished product. If you are planning on supplying your own electronic artwork, please read the information below for details on what is required.

Regardless of how your artwork is sent to us, it is still preferred that you call ahead of time to ensure everything you are submitting is compatible. We are able to provide you with FULL GRAPHIC SERVICES. Our fees are charged in 15-minute units or part thereof ($15.00 per unit) at the rate of  $60.00 per hour. 

ELECTRONIC ARTWORK

The process used to create products requires that ALL artwork be created as line art in a VECTOR-based graphic program. The following information on the acceptable and unacceptable file formats describes what is required in order to accept your artwork via email or disk.

Acceptable File Formats (PC Based)

Corel Draw 10 or lower

Adobe Illustrator 6.0 or lower

Corel Photo Paint 8.0 or lower

Pagemaker 6.0

- All artwork created must be in a vector based graphic program.

- Fonts must be converted to curves or paths. Supply all fonts used – both printer and screen fonts. Remember that this text becomes an object and the text can no longer be edited.

- Hard copy is required for all electronic/disk artwork (this is the only way we can be sure that we have not omitted type or pictures) 

- Use PANTONE COLOURS ONLY and supply the PMS Number (we cannot accept colours picked from the multi colour bars on the bottom of programs)

- Full Process Colour artwork must be saved as CYMK colours

- If you artwork is spot colour – your files must be colour separated and saved as BLACK for each colour to be printed marking the file with the colour to be printed (e.g. Red, blue etc)

- Send all artwork as an attachment

- If you are submitting for files on disk we can accept 3.5"diskettes, CD ROM or Zip drives.  Do not save files in a lower resolution to create a smaller file as this will result in choppy type and fuzzy pictures)

- All TIFF files must be black and white

- If we are required to manipulate your artwork, our rate is $60.00 per hour.

Unsuitable Files

No Bit Mapped Images (this includes TIFF, GIF, JPEG, and PCX) – do not save these types of files as Corel Draw etc as they remain Bitmapped images NB: Bitmapped images that have been imported into files can be used only if they are ONE COLOUR and saved as BLACK

Files produced in word programs such as Word Perfect, Word for Windows etc are not suitable for artwork output. Even though these programs support "picture files" and have colour capabilities – it is not possible to output film or separations from them. It is not possible at this point to convert these files to suitable programs. 

Power Point and other programs that are used to create web pages and output to colour printers are also not suitable. They can create the graphics but we can not successfully output film or separations from them.

REMEMBER -there are NO guarantees with electronic or disk art. Files may become corrupt, disks may become unreadable and data may become damaged. WE HAVE EXTREMELY HIGH END HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE AND WILL DO OUR BEST TO OUTPUT YOUR FILE.
